This is one of many attempts at blogging. You will likely find errors in spelling, structure, etc. It won't be perfect here. But it will be a place to share news and tips, to discuss and learn. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I hope to.

Hanging out with Team Gray

Beloved cousins, Angie and Curtis and their wonderful children, came to visit us on Saturday, September 1st. In attendence for an afternoon feast and some good family time were Team Gray, Mom, Langston and Ryan. We grilled burgers, brats and kielbasa. Sides included Dad's potato salad(my favorite!) and a baked veggie thing I threw together (turned out good!). For desert we had popsicles, brownies and some really great cookies from Yani (chef Yani). We hung out, talked politics, sports, current events and played games. Lolo had a ball playing in the backyard with Imani, Joy and Esteban. Dad showed up later that evening and we had great conversation with him as well. It was a wonderful day, I'm so glad they came. I'd love to head north soon to visit Angie and Curtis so that we can hang out one more time before the weather turns.

My Very Own Laptop

Yesterday, we got a laptop for school. I'm so happy. We got a good deal (mail in rebate, etc). Office Depot of all places. Just need to keep Lolo's fingers off the OFF button.

Memoirs

I just finished Memoirs of a Geisha. I enjoyed the beginning and the middle much more than the end. I remember going on YouTube and seeing a whole bunch of commentary from Asian comedians who might have hated the movie. The commentaries are funny. Comments like boring, the Geisha is played by a Chinese woman, you know, things like that. I get how that might just be irritating.

Corporate Challenge: 3.5 miles in 01:20:35

I had to add this. May 27, 2007 from one of my other blogs:
I’m on cloud nine. Thursday, I walked the Corporate Challenge. It was so cool. Lewis, Lolo, Ayanna and Mendy all came to support me. Mendy walked it with me. It was a 3.5 mile route in downtown Chicago. It was so fun. I took my cane in my backpack, just in case I needed it. We took our time and talked and enjoyed the scenery as we walked. It was such a wonderful experience and a beautiful sister moment for Mendy and I. I thought we finished dead last but I found out I was wrong. Everyone was cleaning up and having parties at their tents and I was getting tired so I told Mend, forget it, that I wanted to go my company tent but then we started talking about the finish line. Maybe I should finish. I think you should. Where is it? And she pointed. It was SO close!! I was like, “give me my cane!” And I took off!!! Mendy was not expecting that so she had to speed up some to catch me. Seeing that finish line, really gave me energy!! And the folks who had finished already were partying by them so Im hearing Crystal Waters singing, “100%, Pure Love” so we just kicked it to the finish line to the beat!! Three people who saw me cross cheered for me. Another guy saw my leg and then said. “You go, champion!” It was awesome. I called my Dad, then my mom! I was so feeling it. I’m still feeling it!! Lew hugged me! I love my husband!!! Ayanna hugged me! It was such a good moment. So I completed the 3.5 mile course in 1 hour, 20 minutes and 35 seconds and only used my cane for the last block and a half. Over the moon, dude. So now I’m looking for my next one. I also have some long range goals for some serious distance challenges….stay tuned. Life is so exciting. I feel like I’ve had a personal breakthough. Thank you, Jesus!!!
